Dean Russell, founder & CEO, epifny consulting is a digital and communications strategist with experience working at top global agencies. 

Prior to setting up his own consultancy, Dean was the European, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Creative Strategy Director at LEWIS PR, a top 5 Global Independent Communication Agency and prior to that he was the Head of the UK Digital Practice as a Director at Fleishman Hillard.

A former physicist with papers published in the British Library, Dean was also a Parliamentary Candidate in the 2015 UK General Election and is a Fellow of the RSA, and Volunteer Champion for the Media Trust. Dean has been a judge for several awards including 7 years judging the British Association Screen Entertainment (BASE) Awards.  Formerly Dean was a special advisor to the British Interactive Media Association (BIMA), Vice Chair of the NHS Healthspace Patient Reference Panel, member of NHS Clinical Reference Panel and judge for the Third Sector Excellence Awards. Dean is also a children’s book author with four books published to date. 

Dean is a regular commentator on the impact of digital in society and across business regularly focussing upon the impact of social media, digital and the latest mobile. This includes writing columns, articles and press interviews for publications including The Times. During his early professional career, he was actively involved in promoting online accessibility. The principle of enabling access to all irrelevant of (dis)ability. Dean wrote one of the UK’s first professional accessibility courses, led the world’s first accessible Flash viral game for the RNIB, and was invited to join the PAS 78 BSI standard review panel.  Dean has been involved in many award-winning campaigns ranging from Yahoo! Finds of the Year through to SABRE award winning campaigns.

Dean has a passion for charities, education and health.  Which led him to co-authoring several professional reports on these sectors.  This included delivering strategic consultancy for the Department of Health, reviewing the entire NHS website landscape – the findings were later revealed in the Health Service Journal and in The Guardian newspaper.

Brands Dean has provided senior strategic counsel to cover a range of sectors, including; entertainment (FremantleMedia), technology (HP), telecoms (GSMA), health (Department of Health), charity (British Heart Foundation), education (University of Birmingham), food and beverage (Pret A Manger), FMCG (P&G Pampers), oil & gas (Saudi Aramco) and business analytics (SAS).
